Under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan, the National Command (ANC) has already approved the National Space Program. After approval, the federal cabinet also passed guidelines that could generate between $ 600 and $ 700 million by 2030.
Other Asian countries such as Bangladesh, India, and China have already restricted the use of foreign satellites due to their higher costs and now have efficient local satellite services. Pakistan has a deficit of $ 22.48 million ($ 3.5 billion) due to its annual regulatory deficit in satellite services.
Capacity utilization in Pakistan is currently at 2200 MHz, of which 21% is for Pakistani satellites and the rest for foreign satellites. In this context, the country pays satellite operators $ 35 to $ 45 million annually.
Pakistan ‘s Space Programs
Pakistan’s satellite program has been blocked for years because of the easing of the internal market and the dependence of governments on foreign services.
However, the Ministry of Information and Telecommunications has drafted guidelines with input from the Strategic Planning Department (SPD), the Pakistani Telecommunications Authority (PTA) and other stakeholders.
