Retired Lt Gen Asim Bajwa has been designated as special assistant of PM (SAPM) for information, earlier titled Firdous Ashiq Awan.

A notification issued by the Cabinet Division said, “Prime Minister is happy that Lieutenant General (RTD) Asim Bajwa has been appointed as Special Assistant to the PM on Information and Broadcasting as per his honorary capacity”.

Speaking on Twitter, Firdous Ashiq Awan thanked PM Imran Khan for trusting him and said it was up to him to decide which member of his team would hold which post. “I respect his decision,” he added.

He also denied reports on some TV channels that he had been fired for alleged corruption, calling them “outrageous” and “baseless”. Congratulating Asim Bajwa on their appointments, Firdous Awan wrote, “As a political activist, my goal is the development of the country and the welfare of the people, which will continue under the leadership of the Prime Minister.”
